Part of the IAQ’s  Boardroom Breakfast Series, this event is limited to 50 places by invitation only. IAQ CEO, Steve Abson, will facilitate robust interaction with Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility CEO, Laurie Walker and Director Originations, Peter Ross.

The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility Act 2016 was passed by Parliament on 3 May 2016 and the headquarters established in Cairns on 1 July 2016. NAIF is a major long term initiative of the Government’s White Paper on Developing Northern Australia (Our North, Our Future). The NAIF is being supported by the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (Efic), Australia’s export credit agency.

The Facility will fill the gaps in the infrastructure financing market for Northern Australia by supplementing private financing for Projects that produce benefits to the region. Any financial assistance provided by the Facility will be repaid in full, and will only provide the level of concession necessary to allow a particular project to proceed.

The Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Senator the Hon Matthew Canavan is responsible for the NAIF, which is led by an independent Board. Ms Laurie Walker is the recently appointed CEO of the NAIF, taking over from interim CEO Mr David Byrne.

IAQ are committed to assist the NAIF build a ‘pipeline’ of suitable projects through building industry awareness and tapping into local industry knowledge and advisors.

In a ‘chatham house rules’ setting, NAIF, Treasury and IAQ invited participants will have an opportunity to discuss contemporary issues in a meaningful way with reciprocal benefit. This is an important opportunity to contribute to the development of the facility and influence policy settings.
