ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Jeyakumar Janakaraj, Chief Executive Officer – Adani 

Jeyakumar Janakaraj, better known as JJ, serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Country Head of Adani Group’s Australian operations.  JJ joined the Adani Group in 2013 and is responsible for Adani’s business in Australia including the Carmichael coal mine, rail and port projects.  JJ has a Mechanical Engineering degree from PSG College of Technology, in Coimbatore and a rich experience of 25 years in the mining industry; building and developing world-class mining projects and resource companies.

JJ began his career in the steel sector in India as a mechanical maintenance engineer before joining Sterlite Industries, where he remained and progressed for 18 years.  During this tenure he held a number of executive roles, including CEO and Director of Konkola Copper Mines in Zambia, at Copper Mines of Tasmania and also President of Hindustan Zinc. JJ has proven that hard work, dedication and the right attitude are key traits that have facilitated him to thrive in his professional career and grow through the ranks.  He was responsible for the concept to completion of all the expansion projects of Hindustan Zinc and greatly supported the company to achieve excellence in business.

In 2006, JJ was awarded the Gold Medal by the Indian Institute of Metals for his significant contribution to the non-ferrous metallurgical industry and is also listed by the International Who’s Who of Professionals (2009). In 2008 he was awarded the DEMAG Gold medal for innovative leadership by the Indian Institute of Metals. He also is a member of the Global Mining Executive Council of Accenture.  He is on the Board of CIAB of IEA.


ABOUT THE PANEL:

Clint Zahmel, Commercial Management Consultant – Adani

Clint has executive level expertise in the mining, infrastructure, building and construction, and transport industries. He also has specialist negotiation expertise and is often called upon to lead complex stakeholder interactions, contract negotiations and dispute resolution – a significant proportion incorporating cross-cultural dimensions.

 

 

Chris Tabrett, General Manager, Strategy and Growth – Monadelphous

Chris is the General Manager of Strategy and Growth for Monadelphous, a leading Australian engineering group providing construction, maintenance and industrial services to the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors. Chris is responsible for the strategic growth activities, strategic planning and M&A for the Monadelphous Group. He has been with the company since 2004 in various business development, strategy and operational roles.

Before joining Monadelphous, his career included operational management roles with a law firm and an asset management consulting business. He has post-graduate qualifications in Engineering and Metallurgy.
