1 June 2016 | Breakfast Event : Queensland Infrastructure – getting it right in a marginal State.
Event at a glance:
In a reform environment where independent bodies such as Infrastructure Australia and Building Queensland are now publicly disclosing both infrastructure priority lists and individual project business cases, there is increased scrutiny on government funding commitments.
So what confidence can the private sector have that reforms aimed at depoliticising infrastructure announcements are working? The recent Roads to Riches: Better Transport Funding report by the Grattan Institute explores the reasons for reforms and takes a critical look at the effectiveness of transport investment over the last decade. At our June event in the midst of a federal election, the report’s author Marion Terrill will provide fascinating insights into funding commitments in the swing State of Queensland.
Following her keynote speech, Marion will join an expert panel for Q&A with Scott Emerson MP, Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Small Business, Dr Matthew Burke, Australian Research Council Future Fellow at the Urban Research Program at Griffith University and Ben Ellis, Director and Senior Economist, NineSquared. The panel will be facilitated by John Cotter, Managing Director of Initiative Capital.
