The 4th IAQ Annual Queensland Infrastructure Summit 2018

Every year, IAQ hosts the Queensland Infrastructure Summit, serving as the state’s premier platform for discussing the planning, funding and delivery issues of key infrastructure development. Over one huge day, experts from every field discuss what have been the big advancements and what trends the industry needs to prepare for. This year, the theme for the event was ‘Consensus for Queensland Infrastructure’. Learn more about the topics and speakers here.

New to the agenda this year was the introduction of the Infrastructure Innovation Challenge. Handpicked teams worked  to solve one of Queensland’s core infrastructure challenges : ‘Shared Mobility’.

The Challenge was based on design thinking principles that accelerates the development and testing of ideas. With its roots in the domain of tech start-ups, this highly effective framework is now being used by companies of all sizes and industries to build prototypes, gain real-world feedback and ultimately make informed decisions on steps forward. The IAQ Queensland Infrastructure Summit fast tracked this process. In just one day of time-constrained decision-making, collaborative creativity and determined action, delegates from across the infrastructure landscape witnessed firsthand the on-the-ground process behind innovation.  Listen to the Challenge Facilitator, Dr Shane Mathews from QUT, discuss the process here.
