The Infrastructure Association of Queensland (IAQ) was formed in 1994 to encourage private sector participants involved in the development, ownership or operation of infrastructure projects to meet their industry peers, potential clients and customers to discuss and act upon infrastructure issues which affect the industry.
Today, IAQ is committed to connecting, informing and developing Queensland’s infrastructure industry. Working within its strategic priorities of Investment, Partnerships, Community, Innovation and Member Engagement, IAQ is focused on understanding best practice from around the world and engaging with all tiers of government to shape important policies to benefit all Queenslanders.
IAQ’s individual and corporate members include leading infrastructure asset owners, construction, engineering, architecture, accounting, investment, communications, legal and advisory firms, all of whom are active in shaping Queensland’s thriving infrastructure sector. Through independent research and policy consideration, IAQ regularly informs the Queensland discussion about how to prioritise and progress state significant infrastructure and enhance public services.
IAQ is helping to create a Bold Vision for Queensland and drive reform in our sector. IAQ’s strength lies in our diversity as we represent the entire ecosystem of the sector with members from all disciplines in infrastructure.
Be a part of the change as we help make our industry and communities more sustainable.
IAQ recognises the profound significance of the upcoming referendum on establishing a Voice to Parliament for Indigenous Australians. We firmly believe that an informed vote in this referendum is not only a civic responsibility but also a critical step towards ensuring the continued growth and development of our nation in an inclusive and equitable manner.
Queensland’s infrastructure sector plays a pivotal role in shaping the physical and economic landscape of our state. The decisions we make in this sector have far-reaching consequences for all Queenslanders, including Indigenous communities. It is therefore imperative that those of us in the infrastructure sector cast our votes in the Voice to Parliament referendum with a deep understanding of its implications and potential benefits.
Being informed means understanding the purpose, structure, and implications of the proposed Voice, as well as the historical and contemporary context of Indigenous rights and representation in Australia.
There are numerous resources available on the Voice to Parliament website, and we encourage all Queenslanders to take the time to educate themselves about the Voice to Parliament referendum, engage in respectful dialogue, and cast their votes with a profound understanding of the issues at hand.
IAQ commissioned Leah Cummins, a proud Mayi and Kalkadoon woman, acclaimed artist and infrastructure professional to create our own Totem. The artwork is called “A Connected Future”. The piece will be used and celebrated in all of IAQs correspondences, so every individual, institution and business we communicate with understand our commitment to First Nations Australians and Closing the Gaps in the build-up to the 2032 Paralympic and Olympic Games.
Leah explains her piece: In the middle is IAQ connecting to communities that benefit from future projects. The white represents urban cities and major centres. The green represents our coastal and greener communities that move toward a greener future. The brown represents those communities in the rural outback communities that maintain and keep us grounded. The blue represents the communities that thrive along the waterways that provide life to all communities.
IAQ is working towards creating opportunities for all Queenslanders, regardless of where they live, and members are collaborating to bring about positive change. Infrastructure plays a critical role in supporting economic growth and social well-being, and it’s wonderful to see IAQ’s commitment to improving the lives of Queenslanders through infrastructure development.
